2011 Chapter 621 events this year:
This year has been a busy one for Chapter 621. We have completed many public service and veteran service projects. The projects are listed below.
Donated money to City of Willard, MO for a flag pole at their new Veterans Memorial. Held a joint lunch and meeting with the Sons of the American Revolution honoring George Washington on Presidents Day. Went to Joplin, MO a week after the EF5 tornado and cooked hamburgers, hotdogs, passed out water and soda to volunteers and residents. Donated money to a veteran who lost his home due to fire. Attended veteran ceremonies and did a Viola campaign on Memorial Day. Held a luncheon honoring our Past National Commander, Clayton Jones and Past National Chaplain, Jim Young. At the request of Walmart we passed out flags to customers on Flag Day. Reliable Superstore auto dealership held a luncheon in our honor, plus made a large donation to our chapter for veterans. At the request again of Walmart we passed out cake and punch to customers on 9/11 in honor of those who lost their lives on that date and honor our current military. On Veterans Day we did a Viola campaign, attend varies veterans ceremonies, and some members spoke at schools. The Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution honored our chapter during a luncheon banquet. One of our members was the guest speaker. Purchased Christmas presents for the Purple Heart recipients living at the Mt. Vernon, MO Veterans Home. Purchased warm clothing for homeless veterans. Joined forces with Community Partnership and provided lunch and passed out clothes to area homeless veterans.
Our goal this coming year is to continue to give to our area veterans in need.
